"America's Game" v. "The Beautiful Game"

How two of the world's most popular sports both unite and divide us

Welcome to My Capstone Project!

My whole life, I have been a diehard fan of football, and in the past several years, I've become more and more intrigued by its sister sport played in the rest of the world. While many of the differences between the two are obvious, it's hard to deny that they are—in many ways—equivalents in their relationship to their respective societies.

This project is meant to serve as a sort of primer for understanding at least some of the similarities and differences between these two games and their connection to the people who are devoted to them. If you're interested in one or both of these sports (or hope to learn a thing or two about them), feel free to browse at your leisure. Hope you enjoy!

LEAGUE STRUCTURES

Learn about the differences between the league structures and financial systems that have formed around America's most-watched sport and its counterpart in the rest of the world.

RELATIONSHIP WITH POLITICS AND SOCIETY

While NFL players' national anthem protests were highly controversial, European football fans acknowledge that their sport is inextricably linked to the political dynamics on their continent.
